Mary Ann has been helping families with their legal needs for 30 years. For more than half of that legal career, Mary Ann has represented individuals and families in private practice in Western Springs assisting them with their estate planning, estate administration and probate needs. Mary Ann is also a skilled litigator and negotiator as well as being a certified mediator.
Mary Ann began her legal career as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago defending the city and its employees in personal injury matters. She tried many cases to a jury, settled innumerable cases and learned to think on her feet. Later, she brought those skills to private practice representing individuals and families in personal injury matters as well as contested estate matters. Her empathy, demeanor and calm presence is a great asset in helping families resolve internal disputes when a loved one dies.
Mary Ann’s litigation experience representing families in contested estate matters has allowed her to be a step ahead of most attorneys in drafting Trusts, Wills and Powers of Attorneys. None of these documents are routine cookie-cutter documents. Rather, carefully drafted documents can avoid some of the pitfalls that lead to family disputes after someone dies. Having seen first-hand in the courtroom the havoc these disputes create in a family and how drafting pitfalls ultimately play-out, Ms. Covone is well-positioned to advise her clients how to best create an estate plan to avoid future problems.
